In an effort to reduce crowded slopes, and direct more beaters into the backcountry, Sun Valley has implemented an ingenious new Sun Valley Ski and Snowboard Competency Sills Test and Exam Protocol (SVSASCSTAEP). If you fail the test you have two choices, either wear the designated vest, or try your luck out of bounds. Fear not however for there is a loophole if you can’t hack it in the backcountry! ASCENT friends, it’s been two winters since we l

ASCENT friends, it’s been two winters since we last published a print version of the magazine. The pandemic was a rough road for the small publisher.
I’m pleased to announce that we’re planning on coming back with a new magazine this winter to celebrate the world of backcountry ski touring!
It’s going to be a big improvement as far as quality goes, with a true archival style publication. Think heavy stock paper with a page count that will land with a thud on your coffee table. Something to capture the essence and soul of the backcountry like no other magazine.
If you’re interested in rejoining us through subscription or as a contributor, let me know if you’re up for the tour.
